A dashcam footage revealed the moment the sinkhole at Tanjong Katong opened on Jul. 26.
The sinkhole formed at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Mountbatten Road, affecting two lanes of the road, at around 5pm on Jul 26.
The incident took place adjacent to an existing PUB worksite.
One vehicle fell into the sinkhole.
A Mothership reader, Mr Lim, who was in the car behind the affected car, shared his dashcam footage of the incident.
Lim told Mothership that yesterday's incident was a "very close shave".
The footage
In Lim's footage, the affected car and he were waiting to turn onto Tanjong Katong Road.
A construction worker was standing by the road, guiding traffic as work was being done next to the road.
When the road was clear, the affected car and Lim began to drive forward.
However, that was the moment the sinkhole appeared.

A close shave
Lim reversed his car away from the opening within 15 minutes, thanks to the coordination of the workers and other drivers.
"Yesterday's incident was a very close shave and could have happened to me if in a matter of split seconds," Lim told Mothership.
"My main concern was whether the road would sink further, thus dragging me down, and I tried to reverse as much as possible as quickly as possible.”
Drivers and workers came together to manage the situation after the sinkhole was formed. Video from Mr Lim.
Workers sprang into action to help driver out of sinkhole
Some passerby on the opposite side saw what happened and climbed over the divider in an attempt to help.
The other construction workers quickly sprang into action to try to manage the situation.
Workers also helped the driver out of the sinkhole after the car fell into the sinkhole.

Road closed
To facilitate repairs, Tanjong Katong Road South, between Mountbatten Road and East Coast Parkway (ECP) will be closed, said the Land Transport Authority.
As of Jul. 27, the repair works are ongoing.
Preliminary checks by BCA confirmed that surrounding buildings are not affected, and PUB has isolated the affected water mains.
Bus services 36 and 48 will also be diverted due to the road closure, with buses skipping stops along Marine Parade, Amber, Mountbatten, and Tanjong Katong Roads.
"Motorists and commuters are advised to plan ahead for their journeys and anticipate possible delays," said LTA.
