Sinkhole opens up at Tanjong Katong Road South, driver rescued after car fell in
Both directions of the affected road have been closed to traffic.
A gaping sinkhole opened up on Tanjong Katong Road South on the evening of Jul. 26, leading to multiple lanes being cordoned off.
SCDF said in a Facebook post that at about 5:50pm, they were alerted to an incident along Tanjong Katong Road South.
SCDF conveyed a person to Raffles Hospital.
SCDF resources are still at the scene.
Pictures shared to the sgfollowsall Telegram group showed that the sinkhole had opened up near the filter lane from Mountbatten Road onto Tanjong Katong Road South, in the direction of the East Coast Parkway (ECP).

The brownish water inside appeared to be metres deep.
A video taken from above showed a black car appeared to be partially submerged in the sinkhole.

At 7:08pm, Mothership observed that police were cordoning off the surrounding roads, as well as the pedestrian walkway along Mountbatten Road.

A large pool of water had formed on the road near the affected junction.

The affected section of the road was inaccessible to traffic as authorities have cordoned it off for repairs.

At least two Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles were at the scene, along with an EMAS recovery vehicle.
The side of the road opposite the sinkhole was also cordoned off with traffic cones.

Opposite the sinkhole, at least 20 people had gathered near a row of landed properties on Tanjong Katong Road South to watch.

A nearby resident, who declined to be named, said that he found out the road had caved in at around 6:10pm.
He said the water looked "three to four metres deep" at that point.
Others told Mothership that they were passing by the area and stopped to see the repair works.
At 7:47pm, Mothership observed that the filter road leading from Amber Road to Mountbatten Road has been closed to vehicles other than public buses.

Two water mains damaged in sinkhole incident: PUB
At 7:55pm, PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency posted an update on its Facebook on the sinkhole situation.
PUB said that the sinkhole occurred at approximately 5pm at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Mountbatten Road, affecting two lanes of the road.
The incident took place adjacent to an existing PUB worksite.
One vehicle fell into the sinkhole.
The female driver was rescued by on-site workers and was later conveyed to Raffles Hospital.
The Police, SCDF, and Land Transport Authority (LTA) are currently on site managing the situation.
Both directions of the affected road have been closed to traffic.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
Two water mains were damaged in the incident, and PUB is isolating the affected water mains.
