The United States Senate could see an ex-professional wrestler and world champion join its ranks.
Glenn Jacobs, better known by his ring name "Kane", has been tipped for a seat in the Senate, representing the state of Tennessee.
After his decades-long wrestling career, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Famer entered the political arena in 2018 when he was elected Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.
He served two terms, which concluded just recently in September 2026.
'A huge honour'
If appointed to the Senate, Jacobs would replace Marsha Blackburn, who will be leaving the seat to become Governor of Tennessee in January 2027.
In Tennessee, the governor has the authority to appoint a Senator to fill a vacancy until a replacement is elected, which will happen in 2028.
Jacobs served as Blackburn's campaign treasurer during the 2026 mid-term elections.
His close relationship with her could see him emerge as her successor, according to the Washington Sun.
He was also included among four in a shortlist that sources close to Blackburn shared with The Nashville Banner.
On a Nov. 4 episode of the "Fox News Rundown" podcast, Jacobs confirmed he was interested in an appointment to the Senate.
"Obviously it's a huge honour for me, so I would consider it very seriously," he said.
