HSBC is set to hire more than 100 AI specialists and 100 wealth managers in Singapore, as the bank launches a new Global AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the country in the second half of 2026.

What the centre will focus on

According to HSBC's press release, the CoE will initially focus on three areas: personalising customer wealth management conversations, introducing agentic treasury solutions, and expanding AI-enabled digital payments.

HSBC said it will recruit talent across natural language processing, data science, AI governance and human-centred design, and plans to work with educational institutions and government bodies in Singapore.

The new hires will work alongside David Rice, HSBC's Chief AI Officer.

Also hiring 100 wealth managers

Beyond AI, HSBC is also looking to grow its local wealth management operation by adding 100 relationship managers, according to Reuters.

HSBC's Group CEO said in May that AI would both eliminate and create certain jobs in the financial industry, and that the bank was retraining its workforce to adapt, Reuters reported.
