In 2015, Miksudiar Aluj, 11, was lost in the Bertam forest near Post Tohot, Malaysia.

She would find herself lost for the next 47 days.

She was one of seven children who had ran away from their dormitory to escape punishment.

Only Miksudiar and her friend, Norieen Yaakob, survived the ordeal.

A report by The Star noted the two girls weighed only about 10kg when they were found.

According to The New Straits Times, five of their missing friends — Ika Ayel, Haikal Yaakob, Sasa Sobrie, Linda Rosli, and Juvina David — were found dead in the forest.

The children were aged between seven and nine years old.

Miksudiar, now 22, said the experience continues to haunt her.

Till this day, she has avoided entering any forests.

Citing Sinar Harian, The Star quoted her description of her ordeal during these horrific 47 days.

"We survived by eating leaves and wild fruits while hiding near a river, occasionally coming out when we were hungry"

While she was able to hear people searching for her, she never managed to see any of them till her rescue.

The two survivors still meet on several occasions, and Norieen is now married with a child.

Still, the two have never spoken of their time in the forest, due to the trauma.
