Koh Poh Koon has stepped down as Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Health.

He also announced his next career step and his wish to cross paths again with his former MOH colleagues.

"As I leave MOH and go back to healthcare as a surgeon, I hope our paths will cross again as we work to support the healthcare needs of Singaporeans."

Family reasons

Koh's resignation was due to family reasons, said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a statement on May 22.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong accepted his resignation, which took effect from Jun. 1, the statement said.

He would continue serving as a Tampines GRC MP.

In a Facebook video, Koh elaborated on his decision.

Koh has two daughters with his wife, who is also a doctor.

In an Instagram post on Jun. 2, Koh announced his departure, as well as some farewell photos from MOH.
