A 40-year-old Indonesian woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in stealing two bottles of facial products worth S$736 from the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Detected by store's loss prevention officer

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a Jun. 10 news release that it was alerted to a case of shop theft on May 31, 2026.

Two bottles of facial products, valued at S$736, were discovered missing from The Shila Duty Free store located in the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 3.

"The theft was detected after the store's loss prevention officer reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and observed a woman behaving suspiciously," SPF said.

The woman was seen entering and leaving the store without making any purchases.

Following further checks, the loss prevention officer confirmed that the items were missing and lodged a police report.

Arrested before departure

Officers from the Airport Police Division established the identity of the woman through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV.

The woman was arrested before her departure and the stolen items were recovered.

The woman will be charged in court on Jun. 11, 2026, for theft in dwelling.

If convicted, she may be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of up to seven years, a fine, or both.

"The police take a serious view of shop theft cases and will not hesitate to take firm action against offenders in accordance with the law," SPF said, adding that it will continue to work closely with stakeholders to prevent and deter shop theft at Changi Airport.
