A young man who stepped forward to help clean up a fellow passenger's vomit on the MRT train has been recognised by the Public Transport Council (PTC) for his actions.
The video of the moment, which happened along the North-East line on Feb. 20, went viral and attracted much praise for the young man, now identified as Isaac Goh.
The Mothership reader who filmed the video recalled that when a passenger fell sick and vomited on the train floor, Goh "took his book out of his Kinokuniya plastic bag, took out his pack of tissues, and started to clean up, unflinching".
When the passenger who vomited thanked Goh, he nodded in acknowledgement and went on cleaning quietly.
According to the Caring SG Commuters movement, he also comforted and reassured the other passenger before they reached their destination.
"I am just awed and filled with hope for our nations's youth," the Mothership reader said.
Commenters similarly lauded the young man for being selfless and kind.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) reshared the video on their Facebook page on Feb. 22, describing it as a "heartening" moment where a commuter took the initiative to help another without hesitation.
Appreciation
The Caring SG Commuters movement, which is supported by the PTC, wrote in a May 23 Instagram post that the PTC met Goh "to show [their] appreciation for making public transport a more caring space".
Goh was photographed receiving a stuffed toy and certificate from the Caring SG Commuters movement.

They were presented to him at Punggol Coast MRT station "for his caring act", according to Minister of State for Transport Baey Yam Keng, who also posted about Goh.
Baey added that he hopes to see more caring commuters like Goh on the public transport.
Nominated for award
The Caring SG Commuters movement said that Goh was nominated for the Caring Commuter Award 2026, which seeks to shine a light on everyday acts of kindness by commuters.
A graphic illustration of Goh's kind act is also featured on the movement's website, next to a link to the award's nomination page.
Nominations for the award are currently open until Jun. 30.
