A 31-year-old Singaporean man, who sent his acquaintance a photo of a nude body with her face on it that was generated using artificial intelligence (AI), as well as set up a live "upskirt" feed with cameras under her work desk, pleaded guilty on May 11, 2026.
Desmond Han Jiancong pleaded guilty to one count each of installing equipment to enable voyeurism and insulting the victim's modesty, CNA reported.
According to charge sheets seen by Mothership, three other charges will be taken into consideration during sentencing.
The court imposed a gag order to protect the identity of the victim who was Han's acquaintance, CNA reported, adding that her age and workplace were redacted from court papers.
Sent topless woman photo via Telegram
Han had previously attempted to ask the woman out for a meal, according to CNA.
She rejected doing so one-to-one and asked if he had feelings for her, to which he said he only treated her "as an older sister".
Han then used Telegram to send her an image of a topless woman generated using AI on the night of Aug. 27, 2024.
The face of the woman resembled the victim's.
He had used an account name, which was redacted from court papers, CNA reported.
She then confronted Han as she was very disturbed by the photo.
Han then claimed he had been hacked and the Telegram account was not his, though he claimed the phone number linked to the account was his.
CNA reported that the woman said she would lodge a police report at the time and Han told her to do so, and claimed his Instagram and Facebook accounts had also been hacked.
Later, the woman discovered and rejected the connection requests Han had sent her on both accounts after he had previously unfriended her.
Photo with suggestive caption
Han subsequently used Telegram to send the woman a photo of her back view with a suggestive caption on Jan. 27, 2025.
Not knowing such a photo of her had been taken, the woman deleted the photo and its caption, CNA reported, adding that she felt very uncomfortable and feared for her safety.
Later that day, the woman filed a police report, where she said Han had repeatedly harassed her via Telegram between December 2024 and January 2025, and told the police about the AI-generated photo Han sent her in August 2024.
Spy cameras at woman's office desk
In addition, on Jan. 20, 2025, Han had ordered spy cameras online, CNA reported.
He then placed three spy cameras which he received three days later, at the woman's office desk as he had access to it.
Han, placing the cameras such that he could capture upskirt videos of her private parts, connected the cameras to a power supply and used double-sided tape to stick them to the underside of the table, according to CNA.
CNA reported that to provide an internet connection for a live feed of the cameras, Han also placed his phone in a nearby locker, which he connected to a portable charger for the connection to last longer.
He set up the spy cameras at the woman's desk on two or three occasions between Jan. 23, 2025 and Feb. 7, 2025, CNA reported, adding that he generally did so for a week at a time.
To minimise the likelihood of detection, he set up the devices at around 7am.
The woman later discovered a spy camera, with an SD card within it, on a cardboard box under her table on Feb. 7, 2025, after which she called the police, CNA reported.
Went to woman's home
After setting up spy cameras at her office desk, Han took public transport on the same day to the woman's home without her knowledge, according to CNA.
Upon arriving at her home around 8:40am, he found no one in her unit, CNA reported.
Han then stuck his hand through open windows to film at least five videos of the house's interior as he wanted to check out the woman's living conditions.
Investigation
Having received the case, the police informed the woman that they had found three spy cameras at her desk, adding that Han had visited her home.
CNA reported that she was alarmed and concerned that Han might repeat his actions.
No recordings were found on the devices seized from Han, who did not disclose during investigations what he managed to observe on the spy cameras on earlier occasions, CNA reported.
He did not disclose the motives behind his offences.
Sentencing
Han is set to appear in court on May 26, 2026 for mitigation and sentencing, CNA reported.
His actions caused the woman to be alarmed and as a result, she became fearful whenever she was approached by men, CNA reported.
For installing equipment to enable voyeurism, Han could be jailed for up to two years, fined, caned, or given a combination of these punishments.
For insulting a woman's modesty, he could be jailed for up to a year, fined, or both.
