M'sia man allegedly pours unknown liquid into woman's drink, restaurant staff notices & replaces it

A team of vigilant restaurant employees in Sabah, Malaysia were applauded after they successfully stopped a man from allegedly spiking his female companion's drink.
The restaurant owner of Pate Grill recounted the incident on TikTok, cautioning women to be careful of men with malicious intent.
Man allegedly poured unknown liquid into woman's drink
According to the owner, a man and woman had been dining together when the man approached the counter to ask if his companion’s drink was ready.

After an employee placed the prepared drink on the counter, the man allegedly picked it up, took out a packet containing an unidentified liquid from his pocket, poured it into the drink, and then placed it back on the counter for staff to serve.

An employee reportedly noticed something was wrong and immediately removed the drink before preparing a fresh one instead.
Staff informed woman in restroom
The restaurant owner said the man later returned to the counter after noticing that the woman did not appear to show any unusual reaction from the drink (which unbeknownst to him, was a fresh one).
According to the owner's recount, an employee took the opportunity to bring the woman to the restroom and informed her that the man had allegedly added an unknown substance to her original drink.

The woman was said to be shocked after hearing what happened and left the restaurant immediately.
According to the owner, the woman told staff that she had only known the man for a few days.

In the video, the restaurant owner thanked his employees for being observant and acting quickly.
He also reminded women to remain cautious and prioritise their safety when meeting men outside.
The video has since garnered more than 540,000 views online.
Many netizens praised the restaurant staff for their quick thinking, with many saying their actions may have prevented a dangerous situation, while a few questioned if this was a marketing stunt.
