Local singer-songwriter, actress and filmmaker Annette Lee is offering full refunds to moviegoers who feel they wasted their time watching her new film.

Dream Stall, directed by Lee, follows Enya, a top-scoring university graduate played by Lee, who steps in to save her family's bak kut teh business after her father, portrayed by veteran actor Mark Lee, decides to shut it down.

The comedy marks Lee's feature film directorial debut.

The movie will be in cinemas from May 27.

Money-back guarantee

In a video posted to her social media platforms on May 26, Lee announced the money-back guarantee for viewers who watched the film during its opening week and felt disappointed.

"Over the years, I've seen Singaporeans write off local films before they even give it a shot, and honestly I don't really blame them — it's possible that they gave it a shot once, felt disappointed, and felt that they don't want to waste their time and money again," she said.

"I'm doing this because I know how much effort my team and I put in to try and create something we really think people would enjoy, and it's my way of trying to earn back your trust that you probably have lost in the local cinema scene."

However, those who still felt their time was wasted are welcome to bring their ticket stub, look for her, and share feedback on how she can improve her future work, she said.

"This is not a joke," she affirmed in the video, pointing to her red cap which read "Make SG cinema great again".

Those seeking to do a refund can do so at *SCAPE Gallery Level 5 (2 Orchard Link, Singapore 237978) on Jun. 5, from 8:30pm to 10pm.

Due to legal reasons, refunds are limited to regular ticket purchases and do not apply to tickets bought with the SG Culture Pass.

According to the movie website, entry at the event constitutes consent to be possibly filmed/photographed for documentation.
