A hawker stall in Toa Payoh Lor 8 has been looking for a diner who likely paid them S$475 by accident on Apr. 21.

The transaction was made at Jia Cheng Noodle House via PayLah at 11:47am that day, according to payment records shared with Shin Min Daily News.

It was discovered when the stall owner, surnamed Lin (transliteration), was doing the books for the day, and realised that the revenue was more than double what the stall typically earned in a day.

She soon posted a notice on the stall's Facebook page, hoping to find the diner and refund them the extra amount.

As of the time of writing, the diner has yet to be found. Lin's husband, who runs the stall with her, told Mothership.

No dish priced at S$4.75

The stall owners are not sure what the diner ordered at the time.

It was during the lunchtime rush, and the entire coffee shop was particularly crowded that day, Lin told Shin Min.

She added that the stall sells two noodle dishes for S$4.50, so she would have understood if the diner ordered one and mistakenly entered S$450 on their phone when making payment.

However, there is no dish on the menu priced at S$4.75 that might result in an accidental S$475 transaction.

Urgently seeking

According to Lin, it was the first time she encountered something like this in five years of running the outlet.

She believes the diner either lives or works nearby, but they have not been able to identify the diner as the stall's CCTV camera had gone faulty.

Her husband told Mothership they hope the person can be found as soon as possible.
