A fibre service outage has hit broadband service customers in Singapore.

Customers of several internet services providers, including Singtel, StarHub and M1, reported issues on the morning of Apr. 18, 2026.

The outage affected broadband services in parts of Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Sengkang and Punggol.

"Our engineers are investigating," Singtel added.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We will provide more updates soon."

3rd-party contractor

NetLink Trust later posted an update at 3pm on Apr. 18 that "the fibre service disruption was caused by a third-party contractor carrying out construction activity".

"The errant third-party contractor was not engaged by NetLink Trust," the statement said.

"We take a serious view of such disruption in services caused by errant contractors and will not hesitate to take necessary actions against the errant party."

The statement added: "Our recovery team is in the process of restoring the fibre services."

"If your service is affected by the incident, we apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience while we work with your Internet Service Provider to restore your service as soon as possible."
