3 armed robbers kill M’sian man, 69, after climbing into house, stealing gold chains & cash

Three masked armed robbers broke into a house in Perak, Malaysia and stole three gold necklaces and cash on the morning of Apr. 17.

A 69-year-old Malaysian man was killed during the robbery, Sinchew reported.

The robbery occurred at about 6:38 am after Malaysian police received a report from a man who witnessed his neighbour’s house being broken into.

When officers rushed to the house located in Teluk Intan New Town area, they found the victim lying lifeless in the home.

The victim was identified as Jaya Gopal.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Gopal sustained multiple slash wounds and was believed to have been attacked by a machete during the robbery.

Authorities believe that the three suspected robbers, all men in their 20s, forced their way into the home via the front door after climbing the outside walls.

The suspects were reportedly masked and armed with a long machete.

The victim was in the house with his wife at the time of the robbery.

When Sinchew reporters went down to the scene, the victim’s family members were seen crying outside the home.

His wife was left severely traumatised and in a state of shock.

The suspects managed to flee with three gold necklaces.

The total value of the stolen items has yet to be determined.

Investigation processes

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Investigators are currently relying on the suspect’s spoken accents to identify them.

Forensic and K9 units from the Perak police headquarters were also called to assist with evidence collection.

A forensic pathologist has conducted a preliminary examination at the scene.

Investigators are also reviewing nearby CCTV footage to track down the suspects.
