Brazil beauty queen, 29, dies after falling from 13th floor unit, boyfriend arrested & dies in custody

Ana Luiza Mateus, 29, was found dead on Apr. 22 after falling from her flat on the 13th floor in Brazil.

Her boyfriend, Endreo Lincoln Ferreira de Cunha, was arrested shortly after on suspicion of femicide.

On the day of his arrest, he was found dead in his cell.

According to media reports, he is believed to have died of suicide through asphyxiation.

The case is currently under investigation by the police's homicide division.

Mateus was set to represent her state in the Miss Cosmo Brazil pageant.

The pageant said they received the news with sadness and dismay and said they stood in solidarity with her family and friends.

Several witnesses told local news media they saw the pair fighting the day before, but were unclear as to what the argument was about.

Brazilian news outlet G1 reported her friends as saying Cunha was very jealous of her, and she had confided in her friend that she felt like she was trapped in a golden bird cage.

They had been dating for about three months.
