Man, 60, allegedly broke into Upper Paya Lebar home & stole S$400 cash & S$38,900 watch
Housebreaking.
A 60-year-old man will be charged in court on Mar. 5, 2026 after police arrested him for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking.
The police were alerted at about 9:12pm on Feb. 28, 2026 to a case of housebreaking at a residential premise along How Sun Estate off Upper Paya Lebar Road, according to a police news release.
Arrested
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division subsequently arrested the man on Mar. 3, 2026 after establishing his identity through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs.
According to preliminary investigations, the man had allegedly entered the unit without permission and stole cash amounting to S$400 and a luxury branded watch valued at S$38,900.
The release noted that the luxury branded watch was recovered and seized as a case exhibit.
Penalties
Following his arrest, the man will be charged for the offence of housebreaking.
The offence carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
In addition, the police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and padlocks when leaving premises unattended, even for a short while
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in the premises
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into the premises and ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition
