Singtel has had some network disruptions over the past few days.

Which led to its CEO apologising.

In another update on Mar. 20, Singtel laid out an overview of what happened and apologised for the service disruptions.

It added that a "small number" of customers may experience "brief and intermittent inconveniences" over the next few days.

A timeline of events

Mar. 16 saw about 15 per cent of Singtel customers experience mobile connectivity issues.

"4G services for affected customers were restored by around 1.30pm, and 5G services were progressively restored from about 2.45pm.

Most affected customers were able to connect to 5G services within two hours."

Services were fully restored at around 8pm that day.

But Singtel users continued to flag problems over the next two days.

On Mar. 17, approximately 2,000 customers experienced mobile connectivity issues due to a software bug from an earlier pre-planned IT system upgrade.

This was restored fully by 4pm, Singtel said.

Following the disruptions, Singtel carried out network reconfigurations to "further stabilise and optimise performance".

This caused a "brief spike in network traffic" at around 5:30pm on Mar. 18.

The issue was resolved in about an hour.

Events unrelated: Singtel

Events on subsequent days were unrelated to each other, Singtel said.

Following the incident on Mar. 16, Singtel said it has been continuing to make "system and network adjustments to optimise performance".

"These efforts are necessary to ensure services are fully stabilised," it added.

However, "a small number of customers" may continue to experience "brief and intermittent inconveniences, particularly during peak hours over the next few days".

Singtel said its teams are working around the clock to resolve this as quickly as possible.

"Once again, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements."
