Man, 63, allegedly stole clothing, footwear & parcels in Serangoon, Mount Vernon Road & Bidadari

The man was arrested on Mar. 18, 2026 and will be charged in court on Mar. 20, 2026.

The police will be charging a 63-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft cases.

According to a Mar. 19, 2026, police news release, he will be charged in court on Mar. 20, 2026.

Arrested

This comes after five cases of theft were reported along Serangoon Avenue 3, Mount Vernon Road and Bidadari Park Drive between Feb. 28 and Mar. 17, 2026, which saw items such as clothing, footwear and delivered parcels being reported stolen.

Following this, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the man on Mar. 18, 2026, after establishing his identity through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV footage.

In addition, several pieces of clothing not belonging to him were recovered during the arrest and seized as case exhibits.

Penalties

The man's offences include theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code 1871, and fraudulent possession of property under Section 35(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act 1906.

The offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code 1871 carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, or both.

The offence of fraudulent possession of property under Section 35(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act 1906 carries a fine of up to S$3,000, a jail term of up to a year, or both.
