Workers’ Party chief Pritam Singh is facing disciplinary proceedings initiated by the Law Society of Singapore (LawSoc).

A check by Mothership of the hearing list on the Singapore Courts website showed that a case management conference between LawSoc and Singh has been scheduled for Mar. 12 in a chamber at the Supreme Court.

The case was scheduled to be heard by assistant registrar James Low.

A case management conference is a private administrative hearing where both parties and the registrar discuss how the case will proceed.

It also allows the parties to consider whether the dispute can be resolved before further hearings.

The issues to be heard can be narrowed down as well.

According to the court listing, the case concerns "disciplinary proceedings for advocates and solicitors of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Singapore".

LawSoc was represented by lawyers from Drew & Napier, including its chief executive officer, Senior Counsel Cavinder Bull.

The listing indicated that Singh was representing himself.

LawSoc can bring charges against a lawyer facing disciplinary issues and a disciplinary tribunal rules on the lawyer’s guilt.

Based on the case number, the matter is expected to be heard eventually by the Court of Three Judges, the highest authority in Singapore’s legal disciplinary framework, which has the power to suspend lawyers or strike them off the roll.

Mothership has reached out to LawSoc and Singh for comment.

Background

The proceedings come after Singh was removed from his role as Leader of the Opposition on Jan. 15 by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

The move followed a parliamentary vote supporting a motion by Leader of the House Indranee Rajah to deem Singh unsuitable for the position.

The motion was brought after Singh’s court conviction in 2025 in relation to the case involving former Workers’ Party MP Raeesah Khan.
