The wife of the Malaysian motorcyclist, 33, who was killed in a drunk driving accident in Selangor, Malaysia, on Mar. 30, has spoken to Malaysian media about her heartbreak.

The 33-year-old, Amirul Hafiz Omar, was out getting a school book for his nine-year-old child when he met with the accident.

A car going against the flow of traffic collided with Amirul's motorcycle along Jalan Raya Barat in Klang on Mar. 30.

Amirul was pronounced dead at the scene, and the car's driver later tested positive for both alcohol and drugs.

Was on his way to get maths book for eldest child

Speaking to local media, Amirul's wife, Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, shared that the 33-year-old was out buying a mathematics book for their eldest child.

The couple has three children together, aged between two and nine.

Amiral worked as a delivery rider.

"He said he wanted to buy a mathematics book for our child, as he had been planning to do so for several days," Nadia said, according to New Straits Times.

"At 11am, he messaged me saying an item had arrived and after that, I could no longer reach him," she added.

Heart shattered when she got the news

Nadia later received a call from a traffic police officer informing her about the accident.

She had thought the call was a scam, but felt uneasy when her husband's name was mentioned.

"He told me my husband has passed away, and at that moment I just couldn't accept it. My heart was shattered," Nadia said in tears.

Children yet to understand father has passed

Nadia also shared that their children have yet to understand that their father has passed.

She said, "My children think that their father is sick, they don't understand yet. I have to be strong for them."

According to MalayMail, with Amirul's passing, the family's main pillar of support was gone.

"I have lost my support. I only started working at Shopee two months ago to help him. Now my husband is gone, and my children are small. I am thinking about them," Nadia told the press.

Amirul was laid to rest on Mar. 30 night.

Hopes for stiffer penalties

The mother-of-three said she has already engaged a lawyer and intends to take legal action, saying she wants "justice for my husband and children."

Holding back tears, she said, "My husband did nothing wrong. He was on the road and not even using his phone. He was not speeding."

She also said that she hoped for stricter punishment for drunk drivers.

"The current laws are not enough to make up for my husband's life," she commented.

The deceased's mother similarly remarked that she hoped the authorities would carry out a thorough investigation and impose a "heavy punishment" on the perpetrator, NST wrote.

She said that Amirul joked about "a ship setting sail" and "appearing on TV3" during their Hari Raya family gathering in Klang this past Saturday.

"We thought he was joking... But it turned out those words were about himself," she said, MalayMail reported.
