Man, 70, conveyed unconscious to hospital after alleged fight with man, 48, an ex-staff in Geylang involving knife

The suspect has since been arrested for causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.

A 70-year-old man was conveyed unconscious to the hospital following a fight along Lorong 16 Geylang on the morning of Mar. 9.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said they were alerted to the incident at about 8:15am.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men involved in the fight were known to each other.

Suspect arrested

SPF confirmed that a 48-year-old man has since been arrested for allegedly voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.

The suspect was also subsequently conveyed conscious to the hospital.

Police cordoned off the area

Photos circulating on Facebook showed several police vehicles and officers at the scene.

The area along Lorong 16 Geylang was cordoned off with police tape while investigations were carried out.

Evidence markers were seen placed on the road and pavement.

Blood stains were apparently visible near by the road.

Members of the public were seen observing investigation proceedings.

Victim taken to hospital

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), they were alerted to the incident at around 8.15am, as reported by Lianhe Zaobao.

Ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

One injured person was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while another was taken to Raffles Hospital.

The elderly victim reportedly sustained multiple serious injuries and was later admitted to the intensive care unit.

The man suspected of wielding the knife was apparently a former employee, according to Zaobao, while the victim was his former employer.

Police investigations are ongoing.
