Long queue seen at Tampines Sheng Siong on 1st day of Häagen-Dazs giveaway

A snaking queue formed at the Block 506 Tampines Central 1 Sheng Siong outlet on the first day of the supermarket's free Häagen-Dazs ice cream giveaway.

The tubs of ice cream were apparently all scooped up before the stated starting time of the giveaway.

Mix of elderly and younger folks

In a video posted to TikTok on Mar. 3 by user @travel360.explore, a queue could be seen extending from the supermarket, winding around the walkway before wrapping around a pillar.

Among those waiting in line to get their hands on the sweet treat were a mix of elderlies and younger folks.

According to the TikTok user, he arrived at the supermarket at 1:40pm, and the stock ran out by 1:52pm, just 12 minutes later.

The giveaway is supposed to commence at 2pm, according to Sheng Siong's event poster.

In the comments, one user pointed out that the best-before date for the ice cream was around Mar. 16, hence the giveaway.

The giveaway is also scheduled for Mar. 4, 7 and 8 at selected outlets in Tampines, Clementi, Changi and Yishun.

However, quantities are limited and the giveaway will end once the allocated tubs for the day have been fully redeemed.
