All COE premiums rise: Cat A bounces to S$111,890, closes gap with Cat B at S$115,568
COE categorisation of cars will be reviewed.
Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for all categories went up on Mar. 18, 2026.
Cat A
Premiums for Category A vehicles or smaller, less powerful cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, as well as for EVs with up to 110 kilowatts of power, rose to S$111,890.
This was a 3.4 per cent increase, or S$3,670 from the S$108,220 recorded at the last bidding exercise two weeks ago.
Cat B
The premium for Category B, for bigger, more powerful cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp, as well as EVs with more than 110 kilowatts of power, went up to S$115,568.
This was a 1.4 per cent increase, or S$1,566 more than the S$114,002 premium set at the last round.
This type of COE is needed to register larger and more powerful cars and electric vehicles (EVs).
Open Category
The premium for the open category COE price increased to S$118,119, which is S$3,229, or 2.8 per cent, more than the previous premium of S$114,890.
Open category certificates can be used to register any vehicle type, excluding motorcycles, but they are almost exclusively used for larger, more powerful cars.
The motorcycle COE premium rose to S$9,589, up S$987 or 11.5 per cent from the previous premium of S$8,602.
The commercial vehicle (Category C) premium rose to S$78,000, an increase of S$2,000 or 2.6 per cent from the previous premium of S$76,000.
COE categorisation of cars to be reviewed
COE categorisation of cars will be reviewed, Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said previously in parliament on Mar. 4.
He said he has asked the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to review the issue in light of Category A and Category B COE prices converging.
Car manufacturers have been adjusting car specifications in recent years so that they fit into Category A, which had led to the convergence.
"We will gather views from the public and from the industry on how to improve the COE categorisation for cars," Siow said.
