Car hits 2 motorcycles from behind at red light in Sengkang: 2 riders, both 21, sent to hospital, driver, 28, assisting with investigations
The car was travelling on the right-most lane of the two lane road.
A car hit two stationary motorcycles in Sengkang on Mar. 6.
A motorcyclist and his pillion rider, both men, aged 21 years old, were taken conscious to Changi General Hospital.
The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Sengkang East Avenue and Compassvale Road at about 10:50pm.
Two other people declined to be taken to hospital after they were assessed for minor injuries, SCDF said.
A 28-year-old male car driver is assisting with ongoing investigations, police said.
What footage showed
Dashcam footage showed a car travelling along the right-most lane of the two-lane road hitting two of four motorcycles from behind.
The motorcyclists were waiting to turn right, but the traffic light's red right-turn signal was on.
The lane is for motorists to either go straight or turn right.
One person on a motorcycle was seen being thrown into the air.
The car swerved to the left following the collision before coming to a stop.
A person on social media, claiming that it was his nephew who was hit from behind by the car, alleged that the driver said "he was sleepy".
The person also wrote in the post: "If you feel sleepy, stop driving. Wash your face, take a rest, or pull over and sleep for a while. Do whatever it takes, but do not continue driving and put others in danger."
The post was accompanied by other photos taken in the aftermath of the accident.
