Would you like to test-drive or buy an electric vehicle?

Maybe have some cafe food?

Or how about bringing your pet along as well – in air-conditioned comfort?

If you are just as confused as you are intrigued by how you can do all these at once, you are in luck.

BYD by 1826 cafe

BYD by 1826 is taking the showroom-with-café concept in Singapore to a whole new level by transforming the traditional car-buying space into a lifestyle destination where people can dine, unwind, and explore electric mobility all in one place.

The newest BYD by 1826 cafe opened at IMM in Jurong East on Feb. 10, 2026.

It is the sixth such easily-accessible outlet in Singapore.

The first pet-friendly BYD by 1826 cafe at Zhongshan Park, which features an outdoor area, is frequently packed with a fully-reserved wait list.

At a glance, you might think this outlet at IMM is just a future-forward showroom with cars inside.

But there are many tell-tale signs that this is, in fact, a curated and elevated lifestyle destination for everyone that is open to the public, including those who do not own a BYD car.

One sign is the rows of dining tables and booths that line the showroom with its distinct minimalist, laidback vibe, as if anticipating hungry diners to show up.

The next obvious sign is the presence of a barista preparing a fresh brew by the entrance bathed in natural light.

And obviously, the smell of freshly cooked food wafting out of the outlet is impossible to ignore.

The vibe is one that is welcoming and steers clear of hard-selling, almost as if beckoning the people outside to just set foot inside and have a look-see – no obligations.

Unique menu

None of the menus at any of the BYD by 1826 cafes are the same.

Instead of serving the same dishes at all outlets, this is to give diners a chance to try a wider variety of food.

It is also to pay homage to Singapore by experimenting with local flavours and tweaking them according to customer feedback, with the fusion and seasonal offerings taking centre stage.

Here at IMM, there is the Fishy Bizniz (S$24) – a garlic miso cod risotto dish that hits the spot with its taste and texture.

The Nyonya Beef Rendang (S$28) is a Peranakan-style beef rendang made using tender beef shins.

In fact, calling it tender is inaccurate as it literally melts in the mouth.

For those who crave smaller bites, the Crispy Smashed Potatoes (S$12) fits the bill.

The potatoes are cooked to a crisp and ever so addictive when tossed with creamy mayo, spring onions.

The dishes at BYD by 1826 cafes are freshly prepared and reasonably priced for their portion and quality.

The best part?

BYD by 1826 car owners get priority booking at any BYD by 1826 cafe and 30 per cent off all their meals as part of their car owner lifestyle benefits.

Premium brand DENZA at IMM branch

The new IMM branch also features BYD’s premium brand DENZA.

Its premium, design-forward electric luxury models will be open for test-drives.

Curious members of the public are free to check out what the EV has to offer.

But the presence of this electric vehicle is almost like an afterthought, with the F&B offerings and lifestyle hangout spot taking centrestage.

It is almost as if selling cars comes second, and liking the food comes first.

But maybe that’s what people want.

Little wonder then that the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker became Singapore’s top-selling car brand in 2025 with 11,184 registrations.
