A woman visiting Singapore with her husband was reunited with her 999-gold bracelet after it was lost on an MRT train and later found by staff.

999-gold, also known as 24-karat (24K) gold, is 99.9 per cent pure gold.

In a Facebook post on Jan. 18, the woman's husband, Chuen Yen Liew, revealed that his wife had lost the bracelet while on the train en route to VivoCity.

They decided to report the loss at the HarbourFront MRT station passenger service counter, though the couple initially had little hope of recovering it.

However, the next morning, he received a call from a station manager at Clarke Quay MRT station informing him that the bracelet had been found and could be collected.

Officer found the bracelet while patrolling

In a Feb. 23 Facebook post, SBS Transit said Customer Service Officer Muhammad Sufian Bin Dahlan had spotted a luminous object on a train seat while conducting patrols.

Sufian said he did not think about whether the bracelet was real gold at the time.

"It was clearly a passenger's belonging, so I reported it immediately as a lost item," he said, adding that he later handed it over to the station staff at Clarke Quay station.

Assistant Station Manager (ASM) Toh De Li, who received the bracelet, described it as feeling "heavy and valuable".

He filed a lost-and-found report that same night, hoping the owner would retrace her steps.

An alert was subsequently sent to all stations along the North East Line, after which HarbourFront station confirmed that a matching report had been lodged.

Another ASM, Bong Boon Vui, contacted Chuen the next morning and arranged for the collection of the bracelet.

His colleague, ASM Leobardo Raymund, shared that when Chuen arrived, he was able to accurately describe the item and also provided a photo as verification.

"He was visibly relieved and expressed his heartfelt thanks to us," Raymund said.

SBS Transit commended the staff involved for their "honesty, teamwork and care" in assisting commuters, adding that the incident reflected the values upheld by its employees.

"We are so proud of you, because the brightest gold is not what was found, but the values that we live by," the caption read.
