A 28-year-old Singaporean trainee doctor in Australia is now slapped with 910 charges after he allegedly recorded over 450 female colleagues in bathrooms.

According to The Straits Times, Ryan Cho had allegedly committed the offences at three medical facilities in Melbourne since 2021 while he was employed as a trainee surgeon.

He was facing 775 charges in December 2025.

Background

Cho had allegedly filmed more than 450 colleagues in staff showers and toilets at Austin Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he had worked since 2021.

Australian authorities alleged that Cho had also recorded intimate images of two former female housemates and one of their friends at their shared residence.

His offences reportedly came to light in 2025 after a nurse found a mobile phone inside a bag at Austin Hospital which was recording inside a staff toilet.

Local police searched Cho's home, and allegedly found similar items including a laptop and a hard drive containing over 10,000 image and video files.

He was later arrested in July 2025.

Following the arrest, he was fired from the hospital and his medical registration in Australia was also suspended.

Case delayed

While no new evidence was presented during the 15-minute court session on Feb. 27, Magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz said "there is obviously a very large amount of material" to be considered.

Cho was initially slapped with five charges, including intentionally recording intimate images of four alleged victims and installing an optical surveillance device to capture private activity without consent.

Mykytowycz confirmed that an additional 775 charges were handed to Cho in December 2025, bringing the total to 910.

Cho, who has been on bail since Aug. 22, 2025, has not yet entered a plea.

He is currently subject to strict conditions, such as a curfew, prohibition from accessing the internet or using devices capable of photography or video recording, ongoing psychological treatment and more.

According to ST, Cho's case has been adjourned to May 22.
