A 21-year-old woman in Seoul, South Korea, has been charged with murdering two men using lethal sedative-alcohol concoctions after she was found to have asked ChatGPT about the dangers of mixing alcohol with sedatives.

She had met with two men at a motel, and both of them were found dead afterwards.

'Could it kill someone?'

According to BBC, the woman, surnamed Kim, allegedly met with the first victim on Jan. 28, 2026.

The two checked into a motel in Gangbuk-gu district in Seoul.

Kim left the hotel two hours later, and the man was found dead inside the room the next day with beer cans at the scene, The Korea Times reported.

On Feb. 9, she reportedly met with another man and checked into a different motel.

The man was similarly found dead.

Earlier in mid-December 2025, a man had previously lost consciousness after consuming drinks allegedly prepared by Kim.

He later filed a complaint against her for causing bodily injury.

All the victims were men in their 20s.

Kim was arrested on Feb. 11 for a lesser charge of inflicting bodily injury resulting in death, but the charge was upgraded to murder after local police went through her phone and discovered her ChatGPT chat logs.

She had reportedly asked ChatGPT questions such as, "What happens if you take sleeping pills with alcohol?", "How many do you need to take for it to be dangerous", and "Could it kill someone?"

Claimed she did not know death was possibility

According to The Chosun Daily, Kim admitted to the police that she did mix the drugs into the men's drinks, but claimed she did not know it would lead to death.

She only wanted to make the men fall asleep, she claimed, according to The Asia Business Daily.

Investigators are now arguing that Kim was aware of the potentially lethal effects of the concoction she prepared, referencing her ChatGPT chat history and the answers she received.

Local police are looking into whether there may be more victims, BBC wrote.
