Following operations conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Feb. 23, 2026, 19 non-compliant active mobility devices (AMDs) were seized and impounded.
Among them, five of the impounded devices were caught using LTA's new Speed Measurement Device which can detect illegal modifications by testing a device's top speed even when stationary, LTA announced in a Feb. 24 Facebook post.

Offences
The operations saw its officers raiding a shop suspected of selling non-compliant AMDs in an industrial area in Woodlands on Feb. 23, The Straits Times reported.
In Admiralty, a separate team of officers also stopped AMD users along a stretch of footpath to conduct checks on their devices.
Officers caught AMDs along the footpath that were non-compliant or unregistered, or those without or were missing number plates, as well as those among the display of non-compliant power-assisted bicycles (PABs), or e-bikes that were for sale at the shop.
Reminder
LTA noted in its post that non-compliant devices pose severe fire risks.
"For your safety, only buy compliant devices from trusted retailers, and check second-hand devices for defects and modifications before purchase," said LTA.
It added that members of the public who spot errant retailers or users may report them online.
This comes after LTA had previously seized 78 active mobility devices (AMDs) during an islandwide enforcement operation in public areas and housing estates, including common areas, such as corridors and stairwells.
The statutory board had previously reminded the public to only purchase and use devices and parts, including batteries, from original manufacturers or authorised retailers.
Those who fail to do so may be fined up to S$10,000, face a maximum of six months in jail, or both.
The offence of selling non-compliant AMDs for first-time offenders carries a fine up to S$20,000 or imprisonment for up to 24 months or both for an individual, or fine up to S$40,000 for persons other than individuals.
