A man in Malaysia has raised some eyebrows with his story of getting diabetic complications so severe that he had to amputate both his legs.

It was because of the sugary drinks he had daily, the man shared in a recent TikTok video.

Each night when he would hang out with his friends, he would order the same thing: a Coca-Cola or Pepsi with condensed milk.

"I wouldn’t say I was addicted to it, but it tasted so good," he said. "I don't know what to say," he added.

Using prosthetics

Due to this habit, the man was diagnosed with diabetes, and later lost both his legs.

He said that he tried many ways to avoid amputation, but ultimately had to go through with it in order to save his life.

In the video, which was shared by an orthotics and prosthetics services company, the man appeared in a wheelchair with a prosthetic leg.

Later, he wore the second prosthetic leg, and appeared to do some physical therapy with the help of a walking frame.

In the comments, many reacted with alarm and concern about the man's unusual drink of choice.

Some pointed out that coke is already high in sugar, and would thus make a very unhealthy combination with condensed milk.

A regular 12-ounce (355ml) can of Coke and Pepsi contains 39g and 41g of sugar respectively, which is about 10 teaspoons.
