A Singapore man, Derrick (not his real name), ordered some food at 10:10pm via the foodpanda delivery app.

At 11:03 pm, seeing as the rider "had not moved at all", he asked the delivery rider if everything was alright.

Here's what he was told.

As Derrick was extremely hungry, he decided to drive down to the restaurant himself to collect the order.

The restaurant however would not let him collect the order, as it was still active in the system.

Derrick's attempt to cancel the order through the app was also unsuccessful.

He then decided to make a physical order to get some food.

That was successful.

However, keep in mind that the delivery was still active in the system. This meant another delivery rider was assigned to collect the food that had been out for an hour.

While Derrick told the new rider to either throw it away or keep it for himself, the rider, who was kind of new, wanted to follow protocols and deliver it to his house.

Derrick told Mothership his issues with this incident.

"This left me paying for food that was clearly no longer suitable for consumption, with no practical way to cancel or receive a refund despite the delivery failure.

I feel this raises concerns about rider accountability, food safety, and consumer protection on such platforms."

Derrick requested a full refund to his bank account and not the foodpanda wallet.

He later told Mothership he received a refund via the foodpanda wallet.

Mothership has reached out to foodpanda for comment.
