A Singapore customer complained about the price of their food after being charged an extra S$7 for adding extra noodles to their "Teo Chew Hor Fun" order at a Far East Plaza eatery.

The customer's receipt from New Station Snack Bar showed that they placed their order at 3:37pm on Jan. 7, 2026, Shin Min Daily News reported, and that the original order on the receipt cost S$8.

Extra charge

However, an order of extra noodles cost an additional S$7.

The receipt showed that the customer also ordered "Sliced Fish San Lou Hor Fun" which cost S$8.

According to Shin Min, the customer made the complaint via Facebook on Jan. 8.

Shin Min reporters then visited the restaurant on the same day.

Upon visiting the restaurant, they found that the menu did not indicate how much it cost to add noodles.

Added other ingredients

In addition, a shop staff told Shin Min that a single serving of noodles costs S$8.

The staff also said that by paying S$7 more, customers will get a larger portion size, which will include more noodles, eggs and vegetables, making the dish suitable for two to three people.

The staff said that customers are usually informed in advance of the extra cost when they wish to add ingredients or get a larger portion.

A staff member also pointed out that they were not aware of any online complaints regarding the extra S$7 before Shin Min visited, and had never received similar complaints before.

A woman in her 70s who dined at the restaurant on Jan. 8 said she was a regular customer and usually gets a single serving of noodles for takeaway, noting that the S$8 portion is "generous".

Future plans

The staff member said that the current menu has been in use for about two years and that they will report the matter to the boss.

In light of this incident, the restaurant might consider changing the menu and improving the labelling of its prices.
