New CEO of Creative Technology is late founder's nephew, 47, who's worked there since 2002
The 47-year-old will succeed interim CEO Tan Jok Tin.
Singapore-listed company Creative Technology has appointed its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sim Li Ern, the nephew of their late founder, Sim Wong Hoo.
This was shown on Jan. 5, in a bourse filing of mandatory financial reports to the stock exchange.
The 47-year-old will be taking the reins from interim CEO Tan Jok Tin, reported The Business Times.
Tan, who will also be stepping down from his executive chairman role, took on the interim role in July 2025, after then-CEO Freddy Sim, younger brother of the late founder, stepped down due to health reasons, just three months after being appointed.
New CEO has worked at the company since 2002
Sim Li Ern, who also goes by Ernest Sim, has been working at Creative Technology since 2002 and previously held the roles of vice-president of sales and marketing and regional sales manager for Asia.
According to BT, he has also served as a non-executive and non-independent director on the board.
The bourse filing shows that in the company, he has a direct interest of 22,750 shares and an interest of 22,408,776 shares held by his uncle's estate.
In August 2025, Creative Technology reported a net loss of US$4.4 million (S$5.6 million) for the six months ended June 2025, narrowing from a US$6.8 million (S$8.5 million) loss in the same period a year earlier, as costs declined following layoffs.
For 2025, the company recorded a net loss of US$10.5 million (S$13.5 million), slightly lower than the US$10.8 million (S$13.8 million) loss in 2024, reported BT.
