US man, 46, arrested after allegedly molesting sleeping girl, 6, at Changi Airport
He will be charged in court on Dec. 11.
A 46-year-old man from the United States (U.S.) was arrested on Dec. 9 after he allegedly molested a six-year-old girl at Changi Airport.
In a news release on Dec. 10, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that the incident occurred at around 4:55pm in the departure transit area of Terminal 3 (T3).
Girl was sleeping
According to preliminary investigations, the man had allegedly approached the girl while she was asleep next to her mother on a bench in the transit area.
He later molested the girl.
Her mother then woke up to find him near her and noticed his actions.
She immediately confronted him before he walked away from the scene.
The girl's mother subsequently alerted the police.
Officers from the Airport Police Division used CCTV footage to establish the man's identity and arrested him within four hours.
To be charged on Dec. 11
The man will be charged in court on Dec. 11 with using criminal force with the intent to outrage modesty.
If found guilty, he may face up to five years' jail, fined, caned, or a combination of these punishments.
