Baby boy abandoned behind house in M'sia, likely conceived by brother, 14 & sister, 16
The teen boy is now in remand.
A baby boy was found abandoned behind a house in Terengganu, Malaysia, on Dec. 14.
Police later revealed that the infant was the result of incest between a 16-year-old girl and her 14-year-old brother, The Star reported, citing Sinar Harian.
The incident took place at Kampung Alor Lintang, Kampung Raja.
The boy has been remanded for seven days since Monday, Dec. 14, to assist in investigations.
Police said the baby was born in secret and abandoned by the suspect before being discovered by a resident.
Investigations ongoing
The court has allowed the teenager to be detained for further investigations, police added.
Authorities are investigating the case under child abandonment laws, which carry a penalty of up to seven years’ jail.
They are also probing a possible incest offence, which carries a prison sentence of between six and 20 years, along with whipping.
Police urged the public not to spread false or inaccurate information about the case.
"The public is advised to be prudent and responsible, refraining from making any statements that could interfere with the investigation or spread inaccurate information on social media about the case," they said.
The baby has reportedly been taken to Besut Hospital for medical treatment and care.
