The user went on to critique the Causeway Link buses, stating that the queues used to be orderly but are now even more "jammed".

The user added that on Saturday and Sunday mornings, one could get on a Causeway Link bus without having to queue. However, now one would have to queue for more than 10 minutes.

Travellers can walk across the Causeway on the pedestrian walkway as an alternative route between Singapore and Malaysia to beat the jam.

The link is about 1km long and could take 30 minutes to cross the whole bridge.

With the year-end school holidays beginning from Nov. 21, travellers can expect heavy traffic at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.

In a Nov. 17 travel advisory, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said that travellers should expect longer-than-usual waiting times to clear immigration.

Furthermore, intensified checks against e-vaporiser smuggling are scheduled to take place, which may further affect waiting times.

ICA advised travellers to check the traffic situation online before setting off on their trip.

For more convenient immigration clearance, those travelling by car and motorcycle can also use QR codes generated via the MyICA mobile app.

Passports must still be brought along as they are required for overseas travel.

Travellers may also consider using cross-border bus services to avoid the worst of the congestion.
