M'sia salesman, 43, reported missing after leaving for work, found dead in car 2 days later

Police have classified the case as a sudden death.

A 43-year-old Malaysian man who went missing after leaving home for work on Nov. 22 was found dead in his car two days later in Penang.

Li Zi Guang (transliteration), a motorcycle parts salesman, was discovered in the driver’s seat of his black Toyota sedan parked in front of a shophouse on Monday morning (Nov. 24), according to reports from Malaysian media.

Police and paramedics arrived after receiving a public alert and pronounced him dead.

Last seen leaving home for work

According to his wife, Li left home at around 8am on Saturday to collect goods in Ipoh before continuing his sales rounds in the northern region.

He reportedly lost contact with his family sometime around 6pm that evening.

After repeated calls went unanswered, his wife to lodged a missing person’s report the next day, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Li’s disappearance, along with details of his car, was widely circulated on social media over the weekend.

Body found in parked car two days later

Members of the public spotted the parked vehicle on Monday morning and contacted the authorities.

Police who arrived at around 9am found Li unconscious in the driver’s seat.

Paramedics later confirmed his death on site, according to China Press.

He is survived by his wife and 13-year-old daughter.

Li was originally from Ipoh and had worked in the motorcycle parts industry for nearly 20 years.

Died from a pulmonary embolism

A forensic autopsy has confirmed that Li died from a pulmonary embolism.

His wife said that some time before his death, one of Li’s clients recalled him mentioning chest discomfort and visiting a Chinese physician.

His wife described him as a “kind and responsible” husband and father who always prioritised his family. He was the sole breadwinner.

Police have currently classified the case as a sudden death and have not issued further statements as investigations continue.
