Bank's response

Following this incident, AmBank, a banking group in Malaysia, issued a statement on Facebook, stating that the incident had occurred outside one of its branches.

AmBank said on Nov. 25 that the bank is aware of a video circulating online "regarding an unfortunate incident involving a third-party security guard and a man believed to be a cobbler mistreating a gentleman".

This had taken place outside their Taman Maluri branch.

"We are deeply concerned and saddened by what had taken place," said the bank.

"No individuals deserve to be treated in that manner, plus the safety of everyone around our premises is our top priority."

The bank added that the security guard involved is employed by an external security service provider appointed by the bank.

Regardless, the bank said it expects all personnel representing the bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold "the highest professional conduct".

"We are also in full cooperation with the relevant authorities and it is our aim to prevent this from ever happening again," said the bank.
