A man claimed that he was robbed while he was walking home after a cryptocurrency event held in Singapore.

Nate Geier, a co-founder of a software development company, was in town for Token2049. The annual event is dubbed the "largest crypto event" and is held from Sep. 29 Oct. 8 at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

Taking to X on Oct. 3, Geier posted a picture of himself with facial injuries and said that he "must have gotten jumped walking home" after Token2049.

In the post, he wrote that he considered himself "a seasoned traveller", but only remembers "waking up in a hospital".

"Passport and ring gone. Be careful out there at Token2049," he added.

In the photo he posted, the right side of Geier's face was severely bruised, and he had a cut along his nose.

Filed police report

When a user asked what had happened, Geier said that it occurred at 11pm and that he "never lost memory like this".

Geier shared that he had filed a police report on Oct. 3 and will visit the police headquarters on Oct. 6 for further updates.

Sceptical

While numerous users wished Geier a speedy recovery and hoped the culprit would be caught, others expressed their doubt that Geier had actually been robbed.

Commenters stated that Singapore is a "very, very safe" country, with closed-circuit television cameras located, and asked Geier for proof of the incident.
