LTA confiscates 15 vehicles in past week for providing illegal ride-hailing services
Another round of enforcement.
A total of 15 vehicles providing illegal cross-border and illegal point-to-point rides were impounded in a week in Singapore.
The update on Oct. 6 was provided by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
"We continue to conduct enforcement operations islandwide with tip-offs from the National Private Hire Vehicle Association and National Taxi Association to protect passenger safety and the interests of licensed drivers," LTA said.
The drivers were caught in areas such as Woodlands, Ang Mo Kio, and Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, LTA said, adding that all their vehicles were impounded.
Drivers caught providing illegal ride-hailing services face up to S$3,000 fines, 6 months’ jail, or both, and possible vehicle forfeiture.
It was previously reported that Malaysia multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) impounded cost between RM250,000 (S$76,292) and RM500,000 (S$152,585).
