M'sia school fatal stabbing: Notes allegedly by boy, 14, mentioned 'You are all going to die' & 'society, school, everyone there is an NPC'
Police said the suspect could have been influenced by social media and emotional triggers.
The 14-year-old male student who allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old female student to death in a school in Selangor, Malaysia, will be sent for a psychiatric evaluation, Malaysia police said.
On Oct. 14, at around 9:30am, the boy reportedly stabbed the victim more than 50 times in a school toilet.
He was believed to have confessed his feelings to her the night before the attack, but was rejected.
After the attack, the suspect was arrested, and multiple sharp weapons in his possession were seized.
Suspect will be sent for psych evaluation: Police
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said at an Oct. 15 press conference that initial investigations showed that the suspect could have been influenced by social media and emotional triggers, Malaysia media reported.
Shazeli said the suspect has no prior disciplinary record at the school, The Star reported.
The suspect will be sent for psychiatric evaluation once the investigation is complete and the case is referred to prosecutors, said Shazeli.
An autopsy determined the cause of death to be from multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck with a knife, Shazeli said as quoted by Bernama.
The weapons, two knives and a kerambit, had been bought online by the suspect some time ago, Shazeli added.
The exact date of purchase has yet to be verified by police.
More details about alleged attack
Shazeli said the suspect and the victim were not from the same class, according to China Press.
The suspect had asked to be excused from class when he saw the victim go to the female toilet, Shazeli said.
He said the alleged attack happened as classes were ongoing.
Subsequently, a teacher realised what was happening and subdued the suspect before handing him over to the police, Shazeli added.
Suspect's notes included in investigations
Malaysian police confirmed that two notes found on the suspect have been included in investigations, Sin Chew Daily and Guang Ming Daily reported.
The notes reportedly mention the names of school shootings in the U.S., and also contain threats and declarations of victory.
Pictures of the handwritten notes circulating online showed a mix of Chinese and English phrases.
They read: "I am about to become the god of this new world", "You are all going to die" and "society, school, everyone there is an NPC".
Police have recorded statements from 57 individuals, including teachers, students, family members and school counsellors, Bernama reported.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days.
The case is being investigated for murder.
