Massive crowd leaving F1 S'pore stuck in 'standstill' trying to catch last train after midnight
MRT train services were extended to 12:30am on Oct. 3, and 1am on Oct. 4 and 5.
After watching the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay, audiences had to face a race of their own to catch the last train home.
On the night of Oct. 3, it turned out to be a slow and frustrating race as a massive human congestion formed near a track exit.
Someone posted a video of the scene on TikTok and described it as a "standstill".
A sea of people can be seen standing elbow to elbow with barely any movement throughout the short video.
The TikTok user wrote in his caption, "Been to F1 Singapore many times, this is my first time encountering this standstill."
He added that it was 12:13am at the time — the last train would be departing at 12:30am.

Another person stuck in the same crowd posted on Xiaohongshu at 12:24am that night saying that Google Maps indicated there were no more trains left.
In the caption, the user included a hashtag for K-pop singer G-Dragon, who headlined the F1 concert on Oct. 3.
Here's an overhead shot that showed how bonkers the crowd was.

According to The Straits Times, 65,000 people were there at the Padang Stage that day.
Train services extended
Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that MRT train services will be extended on race days from Oct. 3 to 5.
The last trains on the North-South Line and East-West Line would depart from City Hall station at 12:30am on Oct. 3, and at 1am on Oct. 4 and 5.
Several comments about the standstill on TikTok and Reddit said that train services should be further extended, and that crowds could have been managed better.
Others pointed out that these types of crowds were to be expected for an event of this magnitude.
