The 39-year-old, who helms the evening primetime news segment, appeared as a news presenter for the final time on Oct. 27, 2025.

In a heartfelt farewell video message to her audience on Monday, she reflected on how 17 years had gone by quickly and she was reporting to the news room for the last time, as she was going to "graduate" from the news media role.

She said in Mandarin: "I believe the audience have seen me grown up over the years. From a new graduate reporter, I grew and learnt a lot until I made it as part of the broadcast team. You have all seen me grow up."

She also thanked the audience for their encouragement and support she has received.

Moving on to different field

In her video, she admitted to being unable to let go, but said she needed to be brave to step out of her comfort zone, because she still has "another dream" that she wants to pursue.

She did not disclose the exact nature of her next vocation, but said she will start afresh in a a completely different field.

However, she will still stay in touch with the audience on social media and provide updates about what she is doing.

She said news reporting is her first love, and the feelings for it will always be very strong.

Even though it will no longer be her job, Lam said she will observe and participate in it in the future and urged the audience to continue to support Channel 8 news.
