Thai man, 39, makes final call to grandma to ask if she loves him before dying from cobra bite
The cobra was found to be almost one-metre long.
A Thai man called his grandmother to ask if she loved him before he died from a cobra bite on Oct. 23.
Thaiger reported that Mai, 39, was found dead in central Thailand's Samut Prakan province.
Dead for hours
His body was found on the second floor of his house.
This is after officers from Bang Sao Thong Police Station, forensic doctors, and the Por Teck Tung Rescue Foundation responded to a report of a snake attack.
They found Mai with bite marks on his left wrist.
By then, forensic officials estimated that he had been dead for at least two hours.
Died calling grandma
Before his death, Mai had called his grandmother at around 6:40am and asked if she loves him.
According to his grandmother, Lek, she replied that she loves him very much.
Lek, 74, said that Mai then told her a snake had bitten him.
He asked Lek to handle his affairs if he died.
Unresponsive
Lek said Mai's speech became slurred shortly before the call went silent.
She immediately called her granddaughter to check on Mai.
However, Mai was unresponsive by the time medical and rescue teams arrived.
They performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mai, but could not resuscitate him.
Mai’s body was sent to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for a full autopsy.
This is to verify the cause of death.
Release snake
The cobra was placed in a secure zip-lock bag and handed over to Bangkok's Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute.
It will be released back into the wild after being vaccinated and de-venomed.
