Taiwanese woman, 32, a mum of 4, gets run over by boyfriend during squabble, dies
She died from multiple injuries.
A 32-year-old woman in Nantou, Taiwan was run over by her boyfriend's car during an argument between the couple, resulting in her death.
The man allegedly fled the scene after the accident and was only caught in Taichung, Taiwan, three hours later.
She was reportedly a mother of four — her children were with her first husband — and was still married to her second husband at the time of her death.
Couple's squabble
According to Taiwanese media, the woman, known only as "Wu", was arguing with her 43-year-old boyfriend, known as "Wang", outside her home on Sep. 6.
Wang then attempted to drive off in her car, but Wu threw herself onto the car's hood in an attempt to stop him.
Undeterred, Wang proceeded to step on the accelerator, throwing Wu onto the road, before running over her and fleeing the scene.
Wu was reportedly dragged along the road and crushed.
Her right foot was caught under the car, resulting in a fracture.
She also suffered multiple abrasions across her body, as well as severe injuries to her chest and abdomen.
She was found unconscious on the road by police who were called to the scene, but succumbed to her injuries and died in hospital.
Wang was caught three hours later in Taichung City, a 40-minute drive from Nantou City, after surveillance footage connected him to the crime.
He told prosecutors that he had failed to stop the car to check on Wu, despite knowing he "had run over something", out of anger.
Torn fabric from Wu's clothes and remnants of her hair were found under the vehicle.
An autopsy of her body was conducted on Sep. 8 to determine the cause of death.
Wang has since been charged for murder and for violating a domestic violence order.
Multiple relationships
Wu and Wang's one-month relationship allegedly occurred outside of Wu's marriage with her second husband.
According to the media, her husband attempted suicide upon learning about her death, and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Wu also had four children from her first marriage, a daughter who is a junior high school student and triplets who elementary school age.
Taiwanese media reported that Wang and Wu met on Chinese social media platform Douyin and "got along very well".
His presence was apparently unknown to Wu's family, who said they had been largely out of contact with her for at least two years.
The couple also reportedly did not have a stable income, and relied mainly on doing odd jobs.
