Taiwan woman, 50, went to convenience store naked to seek help after boyfriend, 54, allegedly slashed her throat

A 50-year-old woman in Taiwan appeared naked at a convenience store to seek help after her throat was allegedly slashed by her boyfriend during a domestic dispute on Sep. 15.

The woman was subsequently rushed to hospital, where she was warded in the intensive care unit with grievous injuries, according to Taiwan media.

Her 54-year-old boyfriend was later found unconscious by police in their apartment after a suspected failed suicide attempt, and was sent to hospital for treatment.

The man is being investigated for attempted murder.

Slashed during domestic dispute

The alleged slashing took place in an apartment in Taiwan's Taoyuan city on Sep. 15 at around 9pm, Taiwan broadcaster TVBS reported.

Preliminary investigations showed that the woman, Zhuang, had been arguing with her boyfriend, Lu, at their apartment over lifestyle differences.

Lu, who had been drinking alcohol, allegedly slashed her on the throat with a serrated knife, ET Today reported.

Zhuang is believed to have been taking a shower at the time, Liberty Times Net reported.

Rushed to convenience store clutching throat

She was later seen entering a nearby convenience store while naked, clutching her throat and covered in blood, to seek help.

At around 9:15pm, a store employee waved for help at a passing police car that was on patrol.

Police officers entered the store and called an ambulance for Zhuang.

Footage of the incident showed a woman wrapped in a towel telling police officers, "Blood keeps dripping from my throat", according to ET Today.

She reportedly had difficulties breathing due to the pain, and was unconscious when paramedics arrived.

Paramedics found that Zhuang had a 10cm-long laceration on her neck and rushed her to hospital, where she was placed in intensive care.

Boyfriend found unconscious in bathroom

Police went to the couple's apartment and found Lu lying in the bathroom unconscious with a self-inflicted knife wound on his left wrist, Liberty Times Net reported.

He was brought to the hospital for treatment, and warded in a general ward.

After regaining consciousness, Lu reportedly claimed that he and Zhuang had planned to commit suicide together out of love.

The case is being investigated for attempted murder.
