400,000 people in Shenzhen, China are being evacuated.
Hong Kong is bracing for Super Typhoon Ragasa.
According to South China Morning Post, the typhoon will be closest to the city on Wednesday morning.
Ragasa is expected to bring hurricane-force winds with speeds of up to 230km/h over the next few days.
About 700 flights are expected to be cancelled.
According to CNA on Sep. 22, eight upcoming flights from Scoot have been cancelled due to weather conditions, while at least 12 SIA flights to and from Hong Kong have also been cancelled.
Two flights between Singapore and Shenzhen have been cancelled as well.
Evacuations and preparations
Ragasa is already being called the most powerful storm on Earth this year.
It made landfall over Panuitan Island, the Philippines, on Sep. 22, bringing with it a "high risk of life-threatening storm surge", the Philippine weather bureau said.
It is now heading towards southern China.
Mass evacuations have already started, affecting thousands of people in the Philippines, and 400,000 people being evacuated in Shenzhen.
Schools have been suspended as well.
Hong Kong's chief secretary has urged the public to remain indoors during the typhoon.
He warned that enforcement action could be taken if official instructions were ignored.
The public is also preparing to hunker down, with residents stocking up on essentials to prepare for Ragasa.
