Water leaking from ceiling at Raffles Place MRT, affected area cordoned off
The water appeared to be seeping from dislodged ceiling panels.
An area in Raffles Place MRT station was cordoned off on Sep. 17 after water was seen seeping through the ceiling that same morning.
Photos and videos of the incident circulating on social media and online forums showed water pooling on the platform floor.

In a video shared by a Mothership reader, water could be seen falling from at least two dislodged panels on the ceiling, in front of a set of escalators at platform B of the train station.
Blue and yellow containers were placed below to collect water.

On Reddit, user @ThatDoorDoesntWork shared a photo of the situation.
In it, a container looked to be full, even as water continued to fall from above.

Newspapers were strewn across the ground to soak up the water, while a man in yellow work boots and station staff were seen nearby.
A TikTok video uploaded by user @joycechoy99 showed that barricades were set up and station staff were seen directing commuters away from the incident site.

The Reddit user who shared the photo speculated that a burst pipe might have been the cause of the incident.
According to The Straits Times, the affected area has since been cordoned off.
