Mum claims her child almost kidnapped in M'sia shopping mall by a woman in her 30s
She shared her experience to warn other parents to be cautious even in public places.
A woman in Malaysia claimed that her child was almost kidnapped at a market on the way home from a family trip in Thailand.
Son needed to use restroom
According to Sin Chew Daily, the mother said in a post on Threads on Sep. 17 that the incident took place when the family returned from a trip to Thailand.
They had stopped at Plaza Niaga Padang Besar in Perlis, Malaysia, as her son needed to use the restroom.
She started her post with: "Today, I almost lost my child at Plaza Padang Besar."
She described the plaza as being extremely crowded at the time.
Perlis is in the northwestern part of the peninsula.
Stranger suddenly grabbed her son's hand
Sin Chew Daily reported that when they reached the restroom, she paused to take out coins to pay at the counter while her son walked ahead.
She said she kept an eye on him and also called out to him repeatedly to make sure he knew where she was.
However, a woman, whom the mum described as being in her 30s, tanned and with round eyes, suddenly approached her son and tried to take his hand.
Believing that it was his mother, her son started to follow the woman.
The mother quickly shouted her son's name, startling him and causing him to turn back.
The woman then released the boy's hand, claiming she had mistaken him for someone else.
Though no harm was done, the mother admitted that she was shaken and regretted not keeping a closer eye on her child.
She said she still feels terrified whenever she recalls the incident and urged other parents to remain vigilant when out with their children.
