ComfortDelGro to start S'pore to JB S$60, S$80 & S$120 fixed fare taxi service from Sep. 25, bookings via hotline
Pick-ups from Ban San Street taxi stand in Rochor are S$60.
ComfortDelGro has a new initiative: Book a cross-border ride from anywhere in Singapore to Johor Bahru via its 6552-1111 hotline from Sep. 25.
Price
The doorstep pick-up rides will cost a fixed fare of S$80.
Pick-ups from Ban San Street taxi stand in Rochor are S$60, while trips from the airport cost S$120, the transport giant announced on Facebook on Sep. 18.
A total of 90 taxi drivers with a valid cross-border taxi licence will be available for this service, ComfortDelGro told The Straits Times.
Bookings are immediate or up to 24 hours in advance.
Customers will be taken to Larkin Sentral Terminal in Johor Bahru, the designated drop-off point for Singapore taxis.
Sun Xueling, senior minister of state for transport, said on Facebook on Sep. 19 that talks are underway with Malaysia authorities regarding having more designated points for Singapore taxis to alight.
Background
The Land Transport Authority said in a Sep. 2 Facebook post that improvements in cross-border services could include designating more pick-up and drop-off points.
A licensed fleet of up to 200 taxis from each side can ferry passengers between Singapore and Johor Bahru, under the existing reciprocal cross-border taxi scheme.
Passengers can only be picked up and dropped off at only a designated point in each country.
Singapore taxis have to do so at the Larkin Sentral Terminal in Johor Bahru, while Malaysia taxis have to do so at Ban San Street Terminal in Rochor.
